“The Secret”

Have you heard or seen the book “The Secret”? I first saw it from the bookstore, of course, but I didn’t find it interesting. Then, I saw my patient reading it and my friend have also mentioned something about the book so I’ve decided to read it. Well, my first impression was wrong. I’d say it’s something that would renew you as a person or your trail of thoughts after you’ve read the whole thing. It’s funny how it affected the way I interact with people today. Hmm… The first part of the secret is probably working. I’d say it’s good and I feel great about it.

Honestly, reading just one book bores me so I have, at least, 2-3 books that I read alternately. I’ve finished the “Nights in Rodanthe” by Nicholas Sparks. I’d say it’s so “Nicholas Sparks style.” LOL If you’ve read some of his works like “Message in a Bottle” and “The Notebook,” you’d know that it’s something predictable.

“Twilight Saga”

About the Twilight Saga, it’s so funny how I got attracted to Carlisle (Edward Cullen’s vampire foster dad). At first, I thought Edward Cullen is the most attractive, or should I say cool, until I’ve read about him. I wonder how he’d look like in the upcoming movie.

Anyway, I went to “Borders” again and bought new books and 1 issue of National Geographic mag about cavemen. ^^;;

What happened today other than reading books ?

I’ve shopped for winter clothes, organized my closet, blog, send sms to a friend (^.^)v , and sleep. Nagtext si “alam niyo na” kanina tapos sabi niya sa akin tumatawag daw siya kagabi di ko raw sinasagot yung phone. May natanggap akong call kagabi pero galing naman dun sa classmate ko nung college na nasa L.A. Nangako kasi siya na pagbalik niya ng Korea tatawag siya. Di ko naman pinapaalala sa kanya yun. Maganda kung tatawag siya. Haha Siya naman nagsabi nun. Ang nakakatuwa lang sa kanya di niya nakakalimutan yung sinabi niya kahit mejo ilang linggo na nakakalipas at nasa ibang bansa pa siya nung sinabi niya yun. Anyway, feeling ko may mali dun sa number na dinial niya. LOL Sinend ko na lang ulit yung number kasama pati yung mga code na kailangan idagdag. Tapos nagtext ba naman at inuutusan akong sagutin yung phone pag tumawag siya. Puhahaha Excited na kong marinig boses niya! LOL

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned about this before in my previous posts. I’m talking about one of the rooms in our hospital? Well, they have been assigning me in that unit and I’ve heard about the spooky story but not in detail. Then, the other day, I’ve worked with Sam, one of our aides from 3 South. She asked me about “the room” (if it’s really haunted). I’ve asked her how did she know that and she told me that one of our RT’s have told the story.

Then last night, I was so lucky to work with Roland (our dearest RT who knows the story). I’m so fascinated by paranormal stories. My family knows how interested I am in those kind of stuffs. Anyway, so, he told me that one time a patient told him that there was an old lady wearing a white night-gown who blankly stares at her while standing at the foot of the bed. The patient then waved at the old lady (probably thinking it was another patient from the other half of the room) but the lady just walked by and disappeared.

One of my co-nurses apparently had another patient who also saw a lady in the same room and same thing happened. Surprisingly, the description was the same. Roland’s patient and my co-nurse’s patient were admitted on different dates so it’s impossible that they just made up the whole thing.

For the past 3 nights, I had patients assigned in that room. Nothing appeared before me but something weird did happen. First, the secretary up front called me (’coz the call light answering machine is in the 1st nurses station) and told me that the patient wanted to use the potty. So, I went to the patient’s room to check.  She was sleeping but the call light was turned on. I woke her up and asked her if she called and needed my assistance. But then, she told me that she did not call at all and I saw the call button at the end of the bed with the phone. Hmm… I thought that was odd. So I just cancelled the call light and went to my other patients.

Well, I believe in paranormal activities but I don’t believe that it exists in a place until I myself experienced it. Weird things happen but not until it appears before me, I won’t believe it. Cheers!

I’m so happy ‘coz…

- Halloween is coming soon! ^^ One of the most celebrated holidays of all time! It’s the time when everyone could wear anything scary they want to wear. Puhahahaha I love “Trick or Treats” and going to the pumpkin market. We celebrate it on October 31st. We wait for people to drop by our house and ask for candies. LOL Then at 12 midnight we’ll start the party. Hmm… I wonder if I’m working that day… hope not.

- We’ve been to the sushi bar again with Ti Chen. I didn’t drink sake though. Haha

- I’m happy and I’m definitely going somewhere next year. Hahahaha

I don’t look like I’m going nuts, do I? I don’t look like I’m in terrible shape, do I? A real smile? Hmm… maybe not.

I’m just tired. I wanted to meet a friend but I could not do so. I want to go somewhere. I wanna go somewhere far from stress. I wanna be happy for once.

My sister, Bryan and I went to Circuit City and bought a DSLR camera. Ti Chen did not come with us ‘coz she said she was sick. I wanted to go to “I love Sushi” in Bakersfield but it would take about 45 mins to an hour to get there, so, we ended up eating in a Japanese restaurant nearby. To our surprise, a “CLOSE” sign was posted on the door. Then, we double checked their business hours posted and it says they usually close after lunch and opens at 04:30 pm. It was almost 04:30 at that time so we’ve decided to wait.

The place had a different atmosphere. Hmm… How can I describe it? Well…I’d say it’s totally Asian style. LOL I felt happy ‘coz finally I’ve seen a place where there are whole bunch of asians, and at the same time, I felt awkward ‘coz all of them are Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Exactly, non of them are Flips! ^^;; Yeah, I know there’s nothing surprising about it but you know the feeling that you, somehow, don’t belong.

Moving on to my story…

We had our table near the sushi bar so we could see how they make the sushi plus they also have the conveyor belt (very typical in sushi bars). The first person we met was the sushi chef. He smiled a lot and he’s very nice. His first question was, “Are you sisters?” (Obviously, he was referring to me and my sis). I don’t know why he asked that but this is the second time it happened. When we ate in Tokyo Garden, the chef also asked us if we’re sisters. LOL (Hmm…probably the color? Hahaha)

Anyway, so I told him,”Yes, we’re sisters.” Then he asked, “Filipinos?”  I replied,”Yeah, Filipinos.” (With a smile). Then Bryan said, “I’m not Filipino though, I’m Mien.” Then the sushi chef said,” Oh you’re Mien!” Well, we wanted to know if he’s really Japanese so Bryan asked, “How about you? Are you Japanese?” Then he said, “No, I’m Korean.” And he repeated,”I’m Korean.”

Oh my gosh! I can’t explain how I felt at that time. Hahaha I’m so excited to see a Korean. Fine! I’m really weird. So I tried if he would reply in Korean. I did greet him, “Annyeonghaseyo!.” He smiled and replied. He was surprised and asked if I lived in Korea and I told him,”No, I haven’t been to Korea.” Then he asked, “How much Korean do you know?” I said, “Chogumyo.” Then he smiled again.

Then, another guy came to us. He was taking our orders and making sure that we have everything we need. At first, we thought he’s a Korean or Japanese too. ^^ Then we heard him speak but we still couldn’t figure out what he is. He has an accent but we can’t actually tell the difference between Chinese, Japanese and Korean when they speak English.

Then, Mr. Korean sushi chef asked who among us is above 21 y/o. Then I told them I’m 23 and they wouldn’t believe me. Hahaha He said, “You’re 23? You look 17! But that’s good ‘coz you’re getting a free sake (japanese rice wine). ^^ Yeah, they’re not allowed to serve alcohol to minors. Then Eric (the Chinese guy), asked if I’m really 23. Haha They wouldn’t just stop asking until they saw my ID. LOL

We have enjoyed our “Crunchyroll sushi”, “Eel sushi”, “Tuna sushi” and “Golden Tiger sushi,” and my sake! Hahaha The sake was warm and good! It wasn’t after 3-4 shots when I felt my body warming up and I felt my shoulders getting heavy. It was funny though ‘coz everytime I’d drink Coke the effect would just go away. My sister told me that I was really blushing. Hahaha

Then, Eric went to our table and started chatting with us. He’s 34 y/o but he looks like he’s on he’s mid-20’s or younger! Hmm… He looks like Son Il Guk. He’s neat-looking and smells really good. LOL He said he doesn’t have a girlfriend, just working 6 days a week and planning to go back to school next year. Well, he already has his Bachelors Degree in China but I think they have a different curriculum there so he has to take another course here in the US.

After paying our bill, he gave us desserts and he slipped a piece of paper on my side with his number on it. LOL ^^ Then Mr. Korean sushi chef smiled when he saw what he did. I just smiled and took the paper. He said he’ll be there every Monday. LOL

When I saw Mr. Korean sushi chef, I suddenly missed someone. Hahaha

One of the saddest songs I’ve heard. This is a French rendition of “My Way” (Comme D’Habitude by Claude Francois) performed by Philippine Madrigal Singers. I can’t help but dream everytime I hear them sing. They’re simply amazing! Hope I could watch them perform someday.

“Circle of Life” has been one of my fave songs because of the energy brought by the melody. For me, it’s powerful to move a person and be inspired. It was made popular the Disney movie “Lion King.” Everytime I listen to this song, it makes me think of things I wanted to achieve in the near future. It makes me feel that I can do a lot in life that I used to believe were impossible to do. It helps me take my step little by little. Sometimes, moving forward is the hardest part you could ever do in life because of the uncertainties, but then, being on the next level is the most rewarding.

“Another Cinderella Story” is a nice film but not as pop. as Hanna Montana. LOL Who says these kind of stuffs are just for kids? Haha I love this couple. When I saw the film, I was really attracted to Selena Gomez. Anyone would fall for her. She’s petite, talented, smart, and not to mention, very beautiful! I love her eyes (very pretty).
